Job description

We are an innovative new charity creating fully furnished, healing homes for survivors of domestic abuse who have been rehoused in empty social housing. We do this by partnering with the interiors industry, which donates high quality furniture and homeware that could otherwise end up in landfill. We are looking for a dynamic Events and Marketing Manager to work with our CEO and Head of Partnerships and Fundraising to develop and deliver a varied and inclusive events and sales programme that fulfils our strategic objectives. You will manage an engaging programme of events centering social justice, sustainability, design, housing and domestic abuse, as well as supporting workshops and training sessions for beneficiaries. We currently hold two large sales a year selling furniture, gifts and homewares. These attract lots of visitors and bring in vital funds for the charity. We want to increase this revenue stream by increasing sales in our new dedicated space, ‘The Atrium’, adjacent to our warehouse, as well as launching online sales. You will need to be extremely organised with lots of enthusiasm, energy and passion for the work we do. This is a new role, so you will have some autonomy to make this role your own. Main details of the role : Salary : £35,000 PA Contract : Permanent, full-time Location : Leyton, East London. You can work from home up to two days a week, if preferred. Hours : 37.5 hours / week, Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend work will be required. 25 days annual leave per year, with the days between Christmas and New Year to be gifted as additional discretionary leave. We are particularly keen to receive applications from women from marginalised groups, communities and backgrounds. Key responsibilities : Develop and deliver the charity’s events and sales programme with our CEO and Head of Partnerships and Fundraising. This includes : Designing an engaging, varied, diverse and inclusive programme of events to raise awareness and funds for the charity; Managing our sales programme to increase revenue and customer base, including launching collaborations and online sales; Leading on the smooth running of all fundraising activities in The Atrium space. You will need to be able to : Deliver engaging marketing plans to raise the charity’s profile, reach and impact and ensure every event is a success; Produce on-brand marketing materials in line with the charity’s mission and tone of voice; Drive sales to increase revenue online and in person; Sensitively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders including beneficiaries, funders, brands, industry professionals and public figures; Manage the logistics, budgets and schedules for each event; Develop evaluation frameworks to record and report on key analytics and demonstrate impact; Monitor and review the successes and challenges of the events and sales programme and regularly report to the CEO and Head of Partnerships and Fundraising; Coordinate volunteers and beneficiaries who will work in the space and at events; Work with the Head of Operations on all operational aspects of running the event and sales space; Keep abreast of Health and Safety requirements and any necessary legislation and licences etc. (This list is not exhaustive and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the charity) Candidate profile : You are committed to our vision and mission. You want to help us create a future where furniture poverty and gender-based violence no longer exist, and where no useable furniture ends up in landfill. You have a proven track record of programming, delivering and marketing engaging events and sales. You're non-judgmental, discrete, compassionate and committed to anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice. You must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information. A DBS certificate will be required. You get things done. You’re organised and have excellent planning and time management skills, and are confident in following through and completing tasks. You’re proactive and can use your initiative. You're a team player. You work well with others and are happy to get involved in the odd task outside your core role to support the team. You have good IT skills. You’re confident working with spreadsheets and Google Drive. You're a people person and a good communicator. You're fluent in speaking and writing English. You're a fast learner. You love learning new skills and with clear instructions can pick things up easily. You’re solution-focussed, unphased by things not always going to plan and able to calmly solve problems. You are available to work evenings and weekends when required. You have the right to work in the UK.
