We're recruiting an experienced and proactive Housing Officer to deliver effective tenancy and income management services. This role plays a vital part in supporting residents, ensuring rent is collected, and taking appropriate action where arrears or tenancy breaches arise, while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and community wellbeing.
The Role
- Manage a patch of tenancies, acting as the first point of contact for residents on tenancy and rent-related matters.
- Monitor rent accounts, identify arrears early, and work with residents to agree realistic and sustainable repayment plans.
- Take appropriate enforcement action where necessary, including preparing cases for possession proceedings and attending court hearings.
- Investigate tenancy breaches such as unauthorised occupation or anti-social behaviour, taking proportionate action in line with policy and legislation.
- Support residents to sustain their tenancies by signposting to welfare, benefits, or debt advice services where appropriate.
- Carry out tenancy visits, property inspections, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports, and correspondence, ensuring compliance with policies and statutory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across housing, repairs, and support services, as well as external partners.
