Job Description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Head of Broking to lead the broking function at a well-established insurance brokerage. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the efficient placement of insurance risks, maintaining strong insurer relationships, and providing high-quality technical and advisory support to client-facing teams. The position plays a critical role in driving commercial and operational excellence across all classes of business.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the broking strategy in line with business growth objectives.

Contribute to the overall business strategy as part of the senior leadership team.

Drive innovation and continuous improvement across broking.

Lead, mentor, and develop the broking teams to ensure high performance and collaboration.

Provide technical training, guidance, and performance management.

Foster a culture of excellence, compliance, and accountability.

Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers and underwriters.

Negotiate favourable terms, coverage, and pricing for client placements.

Ensure market knowledge is current and shared across the business.

Support complex and high-value placements, including programme design and structuring.

Ensure all broking documentation and placement files meet regulatory and company standards.

Ensure broking practices meet FCA regulations and internal compliance requirements.

Contribute to the development of risk management and governance frameworks.

Oversee timely and accurate MI reporting and broking audits.

Partner with client directors and account executives to support new business and renewals.

Deliver cost-effective broking solutions that enhance client value and broker margin.Candidate Criteria

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial insurance.

Strong background in UK and international commercial insurance markets.

Proven leadership and management experience in broking or placement.

CII qualification (DipCII or ACII)

Commercially astute with strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Technical expertise across a broad range of commercial lines.

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Strategic thinker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Strong organisational and project management skills.
