Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the Dorset All Age Eating Disorders Service (DAEDS) Inpatient Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognised service at the forefront of eating disorder treatment and service development. DAEDS provides specialist, evidence-based care to children, young people and adults with eating disorders, working collaboratively with patients and their families to support recovery.

As an RMN with current NMC registration, you will work closely with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care. You will be responsible for coordinating and leading shifts, promoting safe clinical practice, and ensuring evidence-based interventions are delivered effectively. Experience in eating disorders is desirable, although applicants with relevant mental health experience and a commitment to developing specialist knowledge are encouraged to apply. The role is primarily based within the inpatient unit, with opportunities to support the Day Programme as required.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and the role involves working a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends.

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to the holistic care of patients, assisting their recovery and maintaining clear, accurate written records.
  • To implement the discharge process to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Take charge of the inpatient unit regularly and day programme when required in the absence of the Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.
  • Ensuring receipt of clinical and managerial supervision in line with trust policy To be a clinical supervisor to band 3's and 4's within the team.
  • To help in the inductions of staff and students. To undergo mentor/preceptor/NVQ assessors training.
  • To be aware of financial constraints in both pay and non-pay areas and co-operate with managers to working within set budgets.
  • To contribute to health, safety, and security of individuals and their environment and evaluate the risk of harm, abuse and failure to protect.
  • You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course, and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
