As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a talented and driven Business Development Manager to strengthen our relationships with local authorities and commissioners and to ensure that more children benefit from our specialist care.
The Role Business Development Manager As our Business Development Manager, you will play a vital role in growing our organisations impact by developing strong partnerships with local authorities, commissioners, and stakeholders. You will be responsible for promoting our childrens homes across the Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and wider Midlands region, ensuring that our services reach the young people who need them most.
This is a relationship-focused role that requires both commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the residential childcare sector.
Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with local authorities, commissioning teams, and social workers.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase placements across our EBD and LD homes.
Promote our high-quality residential services to relevant professionals and decision-makers.
Work closely with the operations and care teams to understand our therapeutic model and ensure accurate representation to stakeholders.
Support the development of new services and homes by analysing market needs and emerging trends.
Attend and represent the organisation at regional and national networking events, forums, and conferences.
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to stay ahead of changes in the sector.
Achieve and exceed agreed placement targets and KPIs.
Ensure all business development activity aligns with regulatory requirements and reflects our child-centred ethos.
About You Experience in a business development, commissioning, or placement-focused role within the residential childcare or social care sector.
Strong understanding of the needs of children with EBD and LD and the commissioning process for residential placements.
Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across care, operations, and leadership teams.
Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven, with the ability to work independently.
Strong organisational skills and a focus on achieving positive outcomes for young people.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and local authority offices across the Midlands.
