BAM have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Mechanic to work within our Operational Team to continually improve our safety, systems, processes and provide continued training and product knowledge; you will continue to drive our endeavour for excellence in customer service and support our growing client and site portfolio.
We are therefore seeking a self-motivated candidate, able and competent to service and repair a variation of plant and equipment and also resolve any mechanical issues. Most importantly, you will embrace our work ethic and company values of making the construction industry a safer and better place to work and be more aware of the environment and how we can protect our planet.
Your work environment
- You will be based out of our Kilsyth, Scotland depot with a willingness to travel across the UK and to stay away for home.

Your mission
Carry out workplace risk assessments on your own and with the teamCommunicate effectively with supervisors and managementResolve technical problems relating to plant and equipment and share knowledge, use own initiative whilst on-siteCarry out and record regular plant inspectionsCarry out scheduled servicing in accordance with the manufacturer's specificationsMaintain the internal plant to company standardsCarry out on and off-hire PDI inspections and pre-through examination inspectionsLead the familiarisation or provide advice to others [apprentices / operators] in the safe operation and correct maintenance of the plantAdvise / seek advice on the modification and development of the plant to ensure compliance with Change Control ProceduresCarry out daily / weekly work programmes set by your managerCarry out workload in collaboration with operational teamsMaintain personal diary / CPD record to demonstrate career development CVRecord all work carried out within the company's electronic systemCarry out workshop inspectionsEnsure compliance with company and legislative safety and environment requirementsManage working hours whilst on-site according to company proceduresMaintain company vehicle and contents to ensure complianceRespond to unforeseen mechanical issues on-site at short notice outside normal working hoursMaintain sufficient stocks of spare parts for company vehiclesWho are we looking for?
