Join our team as a Community Staff Nurse.

Are you a passionate and motivated registered nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families?

We are currently recruiting for a permanent, part time community staff nurse.

As a community staff nurse you will work closely with the school nurses taking a lead role in delivering specific elements of the Healthy Child Programme 5 19 years, which will include medical conditions in school, nocturnal enuresis and targeted health support for families.

The salary shown is Full time equivalent and will be pro-rated to Term Time, Part-time Only.

Main duties of the job

The School Nursing Team provides a universal and targeted service for children and young people aged between 5 -19 years. We work in partnership with children, young people and families to promote their health and wellbeing and provide a key link between health and education whilst promoting multi-agency working to support their needs. School nurses are the professional lead for children aged 5-19 years as part of the Healthy Child Programme. The Team consists of Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (also called School Nurses), Community Staff Nurses and School Health Screeners. We are located within the community family hubs in Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead and work in a flexible / hybrid arrangement.

As a community staff nurse you will work alongside the SCPHN school nurses taking the lead in delivering specific elements of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 years.

  • Provide support and training to school staff on the management of common medical conditions at face to face and virtual sessions.
  • Facilitate nocturnal enuresis clinics
  • Work with the school nurse to deliver targeted support to children, young people and their families, where there is an identified health need.

  • Post registration experience. Previous experience of practice relevant to school nursing / health visiting and / or working in a community setting. Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures. Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy). Presentation skills and ability to deliver presentations to a varied audience. Excellent communication skills. Confident IT skills Experience of working as part of a team. Car driver holding current full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.The post requires a degree of agility and the ability to carry / manoeuvre light to moderate loads.
