Division – Supervision Policy and Competition

Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £68,000 and London £57,700 to £70,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

We have several opportunities for Senior Policy Advisers to join our expanding Policy teams across our London, Edinburgh and Leeds offices. We welcome applications from candidates with public or regulatory policy-making expertise who can handle complex issues, communicate clearly, manage projects and stakeholders, and work with others to make change happen.

About the FCA

The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive. The FCA drives meaningful change that protects consumers, promotes competition, and strengthens markets.

Responsibilities

Be at the heart of high-profile, high-impact projects, leading policy development and delivery; collaborate with a wide network of professionals across the FCA and beyond, including government departments, consumer representatives and industry partners.

Work on a diverse portfolio of policy initiatives central to delivering the FCA’s 5-year strategy.

Contribute to policy areas such as embedding the Consumer Duty, modernising the Handbook, reforming the redress framework, and shaping policy on emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence.

Skills and requirements

Minimum

Experience of public or regulatory policy-making

Proven delivery and project management experience

Strong written communication skills, including drafting publications or papers and presenting to senior colleagues

Essential

Ability to analyse complex information, draw reasoned inferences from data, and reach robust conclusions

Good judgement, prioritisation, and adaptability

Ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, build constructive relationships, and demonstrate political awareness

Excellent organisational skills, able to deliver multiple tasks under pressure

Ability to make a strong personal impact, work collaboratively, and challenge where appropriate

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support others

Strong verbal communication skills
