Principal Mechanical Engineer

Exciting opportunity to join a scaling engineering business as a Principal Mechanical Engineer.

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the team as a Technical lead lead overseeing the design and development of complex mechatronic systems used in defence and security applications worldwide. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept and CAD modelling through to verification, testing and continuous improvement.

You’ll work closely with electronics and software colleagues to deliver high-precision engineered products that perform in demanding environments. Alongside technical leadership, you’ll mentor engineers, set standards, and ensure best practice across multiple projects.

What you’ll bring :

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong product design & development experience in complex, high-spec environments
• 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor essential) + FEA
• Track record of delivering to tight deadlines / budgets
• Ability to mentor others and influence design standards
