Main Function of the Job

The main function of the job is to perform lab and office-based work relating to the design, development and support of DC / DC and AC / DC converters as specified by Department Head

Job Specification

• Lead the design, development, and testing of DC / DC and AC / DC converters from initial specification definition through to the delivery of mass production units while working closely with Business Development to exceed customer expectations.
• Stay informed on current trends and emerging design insights by attending conferences and reviewing relevant literature, with the aim of applying these findings to new product designs.
• Design analysis (Circuit Simulation, Component Stress Analysis, MTBF, etc)
• Conducting Design Verification Testing (DVT) & Qualification testing of development power supplies for electrical, EMC, mechanical and environmental performance.
• Work closely with our Production and Test Engineering teams during the DFM process to ensure that products are suitable for mass production.
• Resolution of design issues found during DVT & Qualification testing.
• Acceptance Testing of Prototypes (ATP).
• Collaborate with the Test Engineering team during the design of Test Benches and Test Programmes, providing guidance and taking ownership of specific design elements as needed. Assessment of Test benches and Test programmes prior to production release.
• . Develop and manage product documentation—including BOMs, drawings, and related materials—within the PLM system.
• Report on the progress of project work as requested by the Department Head / Project Lead.
• Collaborate closely with the Production, Test Engineering and Quality teams throughout the product lifecycle, contributing to sustaining efforts as needed to resolve issues and implement improvements both in Production and in the field.
• Support the Quality and Failure Analysis teams in conducting root cause investigations of field-returned units, address design-related concerns, and generate the necessary documentation for design changes / revision control.
