Sayers Road Tankers Engineering is looking for a practical, hands-on Tanker Cladder / Body Fitter to join our manufacturing team in Northallerton.

We design and manufacture high-quality specialist road tankers used across the milk, waste and water industries. We're proud of the products we build and the reputation we've developed for quality.

Now we're looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has a good eye for detail and wants to be part of producing something genuinely impressive.

You don't necessarily need previous tanker manufacturing experience. If you've worked in fabrication, engineering, vehicle body building, fitting, production or a similar hands-on environment, your skills could be just what we're looking for.

Full training will be provided to help you develop your knowledge of our products and manufacturing processes.

What will you be doing?

You'll be involved in the final stages of building our specialist road tankers, helping transform the vessels into finished, high-quality products ready for our customers.

Your work will include:

• Fitting and securing support structures to tanker vessels.
• Cutting, shaping and installing insulation materials, including polystyrene and rockwool.
• Fitting external cladding using materials such as stainless steel and GRP.
• Installing finishing trims, flashings and cosmetic components, including fabrication where required.
• Assisting with mounting tanker vessels onto chassis and fitting associated components.
• Carrying out additional fitting work, including pipework, mastic application and conspicuity markings.
• Using a range of hand tools and power tools, including drills and grinders.
• Operating overhead cranes once trained.
• Working alongside colleagues to maintain an efficient production process.
• Keeping your workspace clean, organised and safe.
• It's a varied, practical role where you'll develop specialist skills and see the results of your work taking shape every day.

What are we looking for?

We're interested in people with the right attitude, practical ability and pride in their workmanship.

You might already have experience as a Fitter, Fabricator, Body Builder, Production Operative or in another engineering or manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous fitting, fabrication, engineering or similar hands-on experience.
• Confidence using hand tools and power tools.
• An understanding of working with different materials.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
• The ability to work independently once given a task.
• A reliable, positive approach and willingness to learn.
• Experience with welding, fabrication or vehicle bodywork would be advantageous.
• You'll also need to be comfortable with physical work, working at height and potentially entering confined spaces, with all appropriate training and safety procedures followed.
• A small selection of your own hand tools will also be required.
