Job Description

Rural Chartered Surveyor - West Midlands

Are you an experienced Rural Surveyor looking for a role that can be shaped around you?

We are working with a well-established and highly regarded rural property business in the West Midlands that is looking to strengthen its professional team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Surveyor seeking variety, autonomy and the chance to develop their career within a supportive rural practice. Importantly, the client is flexible and can tailor the role to suit the experience, strengths and interests of the successful individual, rather than expecting someone to fit a rigid job description.

The Opportunity

The wider team advises a diverse rural client base across a broad range of areas, including:

  • Rural and agricultural property valuations
  • Estate and land management
  • Agricultural landlord and tenant matters, including rent reviews and succession
  • Compulsory purchase, compensation and utility/infrastructure work
  • Planning, development, promotion and option agreements
  • Natural Capital, Biodiversity Net Gain and agri-environment schemes
  • Strategic advice to farming and rural businesses, including diversification and longer-term planning

Whether your background is predominantly in valuation, estate management, landlord and tenant, compulsory purchase, rural planning and development or environmental work, the client is keen to have a conversation.

About You

We are looking for someone who can bring:

  • RICS qualification
  • Experience within rural property or agricultural consultancy
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills
  • The confidence to manage their own workload and client matters
  • A commercial and proactive approach
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider team
  • CAAV membership, or willingness to obtain it, would be advantageous
  • VRS registration would also be beneficial but is not essential

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent upon experience
  • Performance-related bonus
  • A genuinely flexible position that can be tailored around your skillset and career ambitions
  • A broad and interesting rural client base
  • Scope to develop your expertise or diversify into new areas of rural professional work
  • The opportunity to join an established and respected business with a strong presence across the Midlands
