GSL Education is currently recruiting a passionate and enthusiastic Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Barnet.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or working with children and young people with additional learning needs.

You will be working closely with experienced teachers and SEN professionals, gaining valuable hands-on experience supporting pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Your Role as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

As part of the school's dedicated support team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Helping children engage with classroom activities and access the curriculum.

  • Providing tailored academic, social, and emotional support to pupils with SEN.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.

  • Working alongside class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual learning strategies.

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and helping to create a positive learning environment.

  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.

What We're Looking For

We would love to hear from graduates who:

  • Hold a degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, or another relevant subject.

  • Have a genuine interest in supporting children with Special Educational Needs.

  • Have previous experience working with children, whether through employment, volunteering, or placements.

  • Are patient, compassionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic.

  • Have strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Can commit to a full-time position until July 2027.

Previous school-based experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates who are eager to learn and develop their skills within an SEN setting.

Why Apply Through GSL Education?

  • Gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment.

  • Work alongside experienced education professionals.

  • Develop practical skills in SEN support, behaviour management, and classroom interventions.

  • Receive ongoing guidance and support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant.
