Job description

Job summary
The post holder will be the team and clinical leader for the Occupational therapists (OTs) across the Community Neuro therapy service. The post holder will be responsible for provision of a comprehensive and highly specialist community Neuro occupational therapy service, ensuring the needs of the clients are identified and met.

Main duties of the job
They will promote the independence of clients, assisting them to maintain or improve their own physical, psychological and social wellbeing. The post holder will ensure that the service is effective, adaptable and resilient, and create innovative solutions to enhance the client experience. They will oversee and supervise the team of Neuro Occupational therapists.

The Community Neuro therapy service includes a stroke ESD pathway and also sees clients with long term conditions. The team provides a comprehensive service to clients with neurological conditions who have multi-disciplinary therapy needs.

The ESD pathway provides a flexible and proactive therapy service to clients who have recently suffered from a stroke to facilitate early discharge from an acute setting to their own homes.

For clients with other neurological conditions the team provides a specialised multi-disciplinary service to clients in the community in order to safeguard independence by preventing inappropriate hospital stays, maximising rehabilitation and recovery after illness or injury, and minimising premature dependence on long term institutional care. Therapists in the team assess, differentially diagnose, rehabilitate and manage a caseload of adults with neurological conditions in the community setting.
