Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - Swindon
- Part-time
Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, who is passionate about providing evidence-based psychological interventions to those with complex mental health problems.
This post would be suitable for newly qualified psychologists, or those with some experience.
Many of the people referred to our service present with histories of complex trauma, so experience of working with these presentations would be invaluable. We would actively support the post holder to undertake further specialist training, for example in EMDR.
Swindon PTS comprises a supportive team of Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, CBT Therapists, a Family Therapist and Arts Psychotherapists. We have established links with local training providers in Clinical and Counselling Psychology and provide placements for undergraduate psychologists from the University of Bath. All PTS staff have access to regular activities to support their ongoing professional development. Several of our staff are accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and we are able to provide specialist supervision to staff in applying for or maintaining BABCP accreditation.
The team has a strong emphasis on promoting staff wellbeing, including a monthly wellbeing newsletter. We are a flexible employer and there will be opportunities for blended site-based and home working options.
Main duties of the job
You will provide specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based psychological intervention to a caseload of service users with presentations associated with CPTSD or PTSD co-morbid with other presentations.
The team is co-located with the Swindon Recovery Team, so the role will involve close liaison with MDT colleagues to consider suitable referrals and provide support to colleagues working in a psychologically informed way. You would be joining the team at an exciting time, as we implement the Your Team, Your Conversation, Your Plan approach, and participate in the transformation of community services as part of the Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF).
We work closely with the local Recovery Team, offering consultancy and supervision in the delivery of psychological interventions. We offer a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT/TF-CBT, DBT, CFT, EMDR and Family Therapy. The Recovery Team have also been implementing Structured Clinical Management (SCM), with support from PTS colleagues.
