Timber Mill Operative

£13.33 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Timber Mill Operative to join a busy and hardworking team on a temporary to permanent basis.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, has a strong work ethic and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Ideally, you will have experience using hand tools and machinery, an interest in maintenance or DIY, and a good eye for detail. Previous experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial.

Duties include:

* Operating mechanical wood-working machinery
* Feeding timber into machinery and removing finished products
* Operating planer moulders
* Using a variety of hand tools, including hammers, drills, screwdrivers and nail guns
* Using chop saws, pull saws and push saws
* Reading drawings and working accurately from measurements
* Producing timber products, including fence panels
* Working to tight deadlines and production timescales
* Carrying out general manual handling and heavy lifting
* Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Skills & Experience:

* Previous experience using hand tools; experience assembling wooden structures would be beneficial
* Machine minding or machinery experience
* Experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment is desirable
* An interest in maintenance and DIY
* Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Reliable with a strong work ethic
* Good organisational skills
* Excellent timekeeping and attendance
* Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical work
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working Hours:

Monday -Thursday: 8:00am - 5:45pm and Friday: 8:00am - 4:15pm
