Salaried General Partitioner (GP)
- Full-time
Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team at Eleanor Cross Healthcare in Northampton.
This is a permanent position for 6 sessions per week, and we would consider other sessional commitments and job shares, becoming available following the retirement of our Senior Partner. The role offers a salary of £11,300 per session, with an anticipated start date of April 2027.
We offer the opportunity to work in an established training and research practice with a strong multidisciplinary team and a commitment to continuity of care. We value our GPs as individuals and encourage colleagues to develop their own clinical, educational and research interests alongside their core general practice work.
We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified GPs. For someone looking for a supportive practice in which to establish themselves and develop their career, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide the full range of general medical services expected of a Salaried GP, working as part of our wider clinical team across Eleanor Cross Healthcare.
A central part of the role will be looking after a defined patient list within our list-based continuity model. We believe continuity remains one of the most rewarding aspects of general practice and gives our GPs the opportunity to develop meaningful, long-term relationships with their patients.
The role will include a mixture of routine and urgent clinical care, reviewing investigations and correspondence, prescribing and medicines management, and contributing to the clinical work of the practice.
Our GPs are supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, including pharmacy, nursing and mental health support, allowing clinical workload to be shared appropriately.
There are also opportunities to become involved in GP training, research, quality improvement and the wider development of the practice according to individual interests.
About us
Eleanor Cross Healthcare is a friendly and forward-thinking GP partnership based across Delapre Medical Centre and Whitefields Surgery in southwest Northampton, caring for over 19,500 patients.
We are an established GMC-accredited training practice, currently supporting 68 GP Registrars and an FY2 doctor, with a strong educational ethos. We are also an NIHR WCS Research Practice, offering opportunities to become involved in primary care research.
We have a broad multidisciplinary team and work hard to make general practice sustainable. Our pharmacy team manages much of the prescribing and medication workload, correspondence is screened and coded before reaching GPs, and our nursing team provides extensive minor illness support alongside dedicated mental health expertise.
We aim to provide a family-friendly, collaborative working environment with fair workload distribution. We welcome new ideas and actively support colleagues to develop clinical, educational, research and leadership interests.
