Head of Legal
A Head of Legal at a growing software company typically sets up the legal function from scratch, covering contracts, data privacy, intellectual property and compliance with commercial advice to leadership. A strong candidate brings hands on experience in business software or data driven products, sound judgement on risk, and the ability to build simple processes rather than rely on outside counsel for everything. Because the product runs AI driven interviews and handles personal data, comfort with privacy and AI related questions matters.
How it fits the AI era
Legal work is being reshaped by AI tools that draft, review and search documents, so the role shifts toward judgement, risk framing and oversight of how tools are used. What stays human is advising the business on trade offs, handling sensitive data questions and building trust with customers and partners. A legal lead also helps set the rules for how AI is used responsibly across the company.
How it builds AI experience
This role offers a chance to work closely with a conversational AI product, learning how AI interviews and voice data raise privacy, consent and governance questions in practice. Building that experience means studying data protection rules as they apply to AI, following emerging AI regulation, and getting hands on with AI tools for contract review and research.
