Area Dean of Warley and Edgbaston Deanery and Vicar of Harborne, St Faith and St Laurence
The Area Dean is a strategic leadership role, working to
- embed the diocesan vision and strategy;
- support ministerial development and well-being;
- support and encourage Oversight Areas.
The congregation of St. Faith & St Laurence looks forward to welcoming “a pastoral and collaborative incumbent who can, being led by the Spirit, deepen our discipleship and walk alongside us as we grow outward in our service to others and engage the wider community around us.” There are many opportunities to develop the life of this welcoming church, which values the rich tradition of the Church of England.
The deanery of Edgbaston and Warley runs from the partly-suburban area very close to the centre of the diverse city of Birmingham, to the heart of the Black Country, with its particular culture and industrial heritage.
We’d love to hear from candidates with significant leadership and ministry experience and a vision to work with others towards transforming growth.
Informal enquiries are welcomed by the Archdeacon of Birmingham, Jenny Tomlinson and 07769 200507

The Bishop of Birmingham, looks for priests to serve as incumbents who have the capacity to grow local church in spiritual depth, in numbers, in confident witness, and in serious engagement with their community. Central to this is the task of identifying, encouraging and endorsing the ministry of others and entrusting them with real responsibility in the work of mission and outreach.
It is important that the priest appointed plays a full part in the life of the deanery, particularly Chapter and Synod, and in the wider programmes of the Diocese. Opportunities for ecumenical collaboration should also be pursued, and good relationships sought with other faith communities.
