About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in sports performance and athlete development, is seeking an visionary and experienced Remote Head of Sports Technology & Innovation. This fully remote position is responsible for driving the strategic direction and implementation of innovative technologies across all aspects of sports performance, athlete monitoring, training, and recovery. You will lead a distributed team of technologists, data scientists, and sports scientists to identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies that provide a competitive edge. This role requires a deep understanding of the intersection between sports science, technology, data analytics, and product development. Working from your home office, you will shape the future of sports performance through pioneering technological solutions, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for sports technology and innovation initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and pilot emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, IoT, wearables, VR/AR) relevant to sports performance.
• Lead and manage a global, remote team of specialists in sports technology, data science, and engineering.
• Oversee the development, implementation, and integration of new technological solutions into athlete training and management systems.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the technology and performance departments.
• Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
• Collaborate with sports scientists, coaches, and athletes to understand performance needs and translate them into technological requirements.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and ethical considerations are addressed in all technology implementations.
• Stay at the forefront of technological advancements and industry trends in sports tech.
• Communicate strategic vision and project progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive the adoption and utilization of new technologies across the organization.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Sports Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with significant experience in sports technology or performance analytics.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing innovative technological solutions in a sports context.
• Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to sports performance (AI, ML, data analytics, sensor technology, etc.).
• Experience managing distributed/remote teams and complex technology projects.
• Strong strategic thinking, vision, and ability to drive change.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
• A passion for sports and a commitment to leveraging technology to enhance athletic potential.
• Experience with agile development methodologies is a plus.
