Job description

About WeArisma

WeArisma is a video and social AI intelligence platform for consumer, sports and media brands. Our AI recognises brands in images, video and audio, so we find the brand content other tools miss, even posts with no tag or mention at all, and turn it into insight and strategy for brands such as Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Shiseido and Pinterest.

The role

We're looking for a hands-on Technology Lead who combines strong engineering skills with practical judgement and clear communication.

Working with two engineers and a dedicated UX/UI designer, you'll lead technical direction and engineering delivery while regularly writing and shipping production code. Your work will span our application architecture, data enrichment processes, data pipelines and AI-powered capabilities.

You'll work closely with the COO to understand business needs, ask good questions and turn requests into achievable plans. You'll explain the options and trade-offs, agree scope and priorities, and guide work through implementation, testing and release. After delivery, you'll demonstrate what's been built, explain what it achieves and gather feedback.

AI will be central to how you build and what we deliver. You'll use coding agents effectively, help the team improve its development practices and build useful AI-powered features with appropriate testing and review.

This role suits someone who enjoys taking work from an initial conversation to a working product improvement, with implementation and operational responsibilities shared across the engineering team.

Must Have

  • 10+ years in software development, and still hands-on. You've personally shipped production code within the past year.
  • Architecture and data engineering experience. You understand how systems fit together and have built and improved data enrichment and processing pipelines.
  • Technical leadership. You've guided engineers, reviewed their work and helped a team deliver.
  • AI in development. You use coding agents day to day and know how to review, test and debug their output.
  • AI product experience. You've shipped AI-powered features or applied AI to data enrichment in production, and can explain how you evaluated the results.
  • Clear communication and judgement. You can clarify ambiguous requests, explain trade-offs and agree realistic plans with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

The attitude we’re looking for

  • Seek fast-paced quick thinking environment
  • Strong ownership
  • Curious & self-directed
  • Quality-obsessed
  • Efficiency-minded
  • Commercial instinct
  • Personable & warm
  • Solution-Oriented
  • Ambitious for growth
  • Adapts communication to technical and non-technical audiences

What you'll do

  • Build and guide. Write production code, shape the architecture and improve platform reliability, performance and cost.
  • Improve our data. Build and refine enrichment pipelines, addressing accuracy, freshness and processing failures.
  • Lead the team. Coach engineers and establish practical standards for code review, testing and effective AI use.
  • Scope work thoughtfully. Work with the COO and designer to understand requirements, propose options and agree priorities, scope and timelines.
  • Communicate and demonstrate. Share progress, raise risks early and demo completed work, explaining its value, limitations and next steps.

What success looks like

  • First 30 days: Understand the architecture and data flows, ship an initial improvement and agree on the main technical priorities.
  • First 90 days: Lead engineering planning and releases, with a consistent rhythm for reviews, stakeholder updates and demos.
  • First 180 days: Deliver a meaningful product or platform improvement with measurable gains in data quality, reliability, processing speed or cost.

What we offer

  • Real ownership, with direct influence on product and company direction.
  • Work used by global brands across fashion, beauty, sports and media.
  • A small, close-knit team where your work has visible impact.
  • 25 days annual leave in addition to public holidays
  • Health and Dental insurance
  • Annual team offsite trip to a European location
  • Hybrid co-working space - 2 days London, remainder remote
  • Monthly coaching session and team lunch / dinner

Right to work

Must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.
