We are partnering with a high-growth, specialized technology consultancy in Newcastle city center looking for an exceptional Senior or Lead Java Engineer to join their core software team.
This isn't standard web development or routine CRUD apps. You’ll be designing and delivering high-performance backends, custom quantitative engines, and complex data architecture for high-consequence enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of modular, modern Java microservices and high-throughput data pipelines.
- Complex Problem Solving: Work on custom software projects where performance, data integrity, and architectural precision are critical.
- Technical Standards: Drive modern engineering practices—clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, and robust system design.
- Mentorship & Ownership: Take ownership of delivery streams and help guide mid-level and senior engineers through complex technical builds.
What We’re Looking For:
- Deep Core Java Skills: Strong proficiency in modern Java (Java 17/21+), Spring Boot, concurrency, and performance tuning.
- Data & Systems Focus: Experience with distributed data architectures, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka), and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Exceptional Intellectual & Technical Ability: A strong academic or problem-solving background paired with deep curiosity and sharp analytical thinking.
- Communication: Ability to discuss system trade-offs clearly with internal teams and external technical stakeholders.
Bonus Points: Experience in data-heavy domains (finance, analytics, logistics, or defense) or secondary proficiency in Python/C#/Rust.
