An academically rigorous secondary school in York, North Yorkshire, is seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to elevate teaching standards, drive problem-solving frameworks, and boost Sixth Form mathematical outcomes starting in January. Job Overview This role combines expert classroom delivery across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Higher/Foundation), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Mathematics / Further Maths) with strategic responsibility for whole-department pedagogy. Working directly alongside senior leadership and the Head of Mathematics, you will model evidence-based teaching strategies (mastery learning, cognitive load management), lead peer coaching sessions, analyze pupil progress data, and prepare high-attaining Sixth Form students for competitive university entrance papers (STEP/MAT) and national UKMT challenges. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January.
