AI Engineer
We’re recruiting on behalf of a global gaming and entertainment group. They’re investing heavily in AI right now, with a new AI function being built out of Manchester and an AI-first mindset running right across product and technology.
What the role involves
You’ll join a newly formed AI Engineering team, working alongside an established AI R&D group. R&D explore and validate new ideas, and your job is to take the ones that prove themselves and turn them into reliable, production-grade features used by hundreds of thousands of real customers.
The work centres on how players discover content: personalisation, recommendation, search and ranking, running against live traffic with real latency constraints. There’s also scope to work on agents, natural-language search and contextual bandits. Quality is a big focus, so you’ll build the evals, test harnesses and error analysis that keep LLM-backed features behaving well once they’re live.
It’s a hands‑on role with genuine ownership, taking features from prototype through to production and owning how they’re built and run. You’ll work closely with product managers, data analysts and engineers, so clear communication matters as much as technical depth.
What we’re looking for
- Software/Machine Learning engineering background.
- A track record of shipping ML, recommendation, search or LLM-backed features to real users at scale
- Strong Python and/or TypeScript, and comfortable picking up the other
- Hands‑on AWS experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code and observability
- Experience building RAG pipelines, agentic workflows or other LLM applications in production
- Experience building and using evals to measure model and system behaviour
- Comfortable with real‑time, high‑throughput systems
- A self‑starter who owns problems end to end and enjoys working across teams
Hybrid working, Manchester based, 2 days a week in the office.
