Company overview
Voltility is a market intelligence platform for the people building, powering and financing the energy transition and data centre power markets. We track battery storage and hybrid power projects across the US and Europe, and in 2026 launched data-centre power coverage.
Following new investment we're growing the team quickly, so this is a chance to join early and help shape the business at an exciting time.
Role overview
The Squad Lead for Regulatory leads Voltility's coverage of the rules, processes and public context that shape the US power market on both sides of the meter. That runs from federal and wholesale market level through state regulators and utilities down to the local layer of permitting, zoning and community decision-making, and includes how projects are perceived by the public.
You'll become the subject-matter expert that regulators, utilities, local officials, advisers and advocates want to talk to. You'll help decide what Voltility tracks, build the network to get ahead of change, and combine market intelligence with AI-collected data to create regulatory data sets that span both generation and load. You'll work closely with journalists and analysts to turn that change into intelligence customers act on, while coaching researchers along the way.
Key responsibilities
- Own the squad's regulatory data sets end to end, from collection and enrichment through to delivery
- Build and maintain an active network across federal and state regulators, wholesale market operators, utilities of all types, local officials and planning bodies, regulatory counsel, trade associations and community and advocacy groups
- Run outbound collection. Identify targets, make contact, trade insight for information and log what is learnt
- Work hand in hand with journalists to decide where to push, what to chase and how to turn scoops into structured data
- Work with analysts so that tracked change is turned into opinion and longer-form intelligence where it matters to subscribers
- Lead QA across the squad's regulatory data and direct the research team's checks of tech-led data
- Shape new researchers into proprietary collectors, coaching them on outbound and sourcing
- Set and track squad collection targets
- Verify data to the agreed standard before it is published, and record source and confidence
- Stay on top of the public and non-proprietary sources for the squad's market, working with leadership and engineering to add new sources and keepexisting ones current
- Support the commercial team with subject-matter input to demonstrations and client questions
Suggested experience
- Working knowledge of US power market regulation at various levels
- Background in data research roles with exposure to infrastructure development regulation is a plus
- An existing network in the industry
- Experience managing or guiding junior colleagues; rigorous with sourcing and verification
