Job description

About The Role
UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE
+ MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR EVERY PATIENT

Are you a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist looking for flexible working opportunities within a dynamic hospital environment? We are looking for a Bank Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, supporting elective surgical services while delivering safe, effective and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.

As our Bank Clinical Pharmacist, you'll provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across inpatient wards, theatres, recovery, outpatients and dispensary services. You'll work closely with Consultants, Nurses and wider clinical teams to ensure the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines.

Supporting a range of specialties including Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Endoscopy, you'll contribute to medicines optimisation, governance, patient education and service development initiatives.

This role is offered on a bank (0-hour) contract. There are no guaranteed hours, and shifts will be offered depending on business needs. You can accept or decline shifts based on your availability, making this a flexible option—but it may not be suitable if you are seeking consistent or full-time hours.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing clinical pharmacy services and prescription screening across the hospital.
  • Delivering clinical ward and dispensary cover.
  • Supporting medicines reconciliation, discharge planning and medication reviews.
  • Providing specialist advice to consultants, clinicians and patients on medicines management.
  • Contributing to perioperative medicines optimisation and patient safety initiatives.
  • Participating in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Supporting antimicrobial stewardship, VTE prevention and enhanced recovery programmes.
  • Delivering medicines management training to colleagues across the hospital.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
  • Helping develop and implement innovative pharmacy services and processes.

What we'll look for in you
As a Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), you will also have:

  • Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Certificate.
  • Comprehensive experience as a Clinical Pharmacist across a broad range of specialties.
  • Experience working directly with clinicians, multidisciplinary teams and patients.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice, medicines optimisation and clinical governance.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a patient safety-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

What you can expect in return

  • A bank rate of £31.50 per hour
  • Flexible shifts to suit your availability
  • Supportive working environment focused on quality patient care
  • The chance to make a real difference to patients and colleagues alike
