Head of Estates (Scotland) | Care Concern Group
Salary is £70,000 per annum + up to £10,000 discretionary bonus + £6,000 car allowance

At Care Concern Group, our homes are more than buildings. They are places where residents live, receive care and feel at home. Maintaining safe, compliant and well-managed environments is essential to the quality of care we deliver.

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Estates – Scotland to lead our estates function across approximately 74 properties, ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, maintenance and operational performance.

Reporting directly to the Director of Property, you’ll lead a team of four direct reports, combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to drive consistency, manage risk and deliver value across the Scottish portfolio.

What We Offer

  • £70,000 annual salary
  • Up to £10,000 discretionary bonus
  • £6,000 annual car allowance + mileage covered
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Professional subscriptions paid
  • Home-based working with Scotland-wide travel

The Opportunity

As the senior estates lead for Scotland, you’ll be responsible for the effective management of the regional estate, ensuring properties remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

Your responsibilities will include -

  • Lead and develop a team of four, setting clear objectives and driving accountability and performance.
  • Oversee statutory compliance, audits, remedial actions and property-related risks, working closely with Health & Safety, Quality and Operations.
  • Ensure effective delivery of planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and emergency works.
  • Manage regional budgets, monitor expenditure and support forecasting and capital investment planning.
  • Drive supplier performance, contractual compliance, quality and value for money.
  • Support the effective use of the group's CAFM system, strengthening compliance records, asset information and performance reporting.
  • Contribute to refurbishment and improvement programmes, ensuring investment decisions are informed by property condition, risk and business priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with Regional Directors, Home Managers, contractors and senior colleagues to resolve issues and improve service delivery.

You’ll work closely with the Director of Property and wider leadership team to translate group strategy into effective regional delivery, ensuring risks are identified early, standards are maintained and resources are used effectively.

About You

You’re an established estates or facilities management professional with experience leading multi-site property portfolios and geographically dispersed teams. You combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, confident leadership and a proactive approach to managing risk.

You’ll bring -

  • Experience leading estates or facilities management across multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, building services, PPM and property risk management.
  • Proven budget management and contractor or supplier management experience.
  • The ability to develop teams, manage competing priorities and drive performance.
  • Experience using CAFM systems, compliance data and reporting to improve operational control.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence when needed.

Experience within healthcare, social care or another regulated environment would be advantageous. Relevant qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, IWFM, NEBOSH or IOSH would also be beneficial.

You’ll be comfortable working from home, travelling extensively across Scotland and maintaining a visible presence across the portfolio.
