Job description

Company overview

Voltility is a market intelligence platform for the people building, powering and financing the energy transition and data centre power markets. We track battery storage and hybrid power projects across the US and Europe, and in 2026 launched data-centre power coverage.

Following new investment we're growing the team quickly, so this is a chance to join early and help shape the business at an exciting time.

Role overview:

The Regulatory Analyst turns regulatory data into interpretation and opinion. Working with journalists and researchers, the Analyst explains what a regulatory change, a local decision or a shift in public sentiment means for generation, storage and large-load projects, and writes the longer-form intelligence that subscribers pay for.

The purpose of the role is to make Voltility's regulatory coverage a view, not just a feed. The Analyst takes market changes and combines with asset data to create intelligence briefings, market notes and deep dives that say who is affected, by how much and what happens next. The role also feeds back into collection, telling the research team which developments need more digging and which data points would sharpen the analysis.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret regulatory and local change for subscribers
  • Write longer-form intelligence pieces, from short briefings on a single development to deep dives on a market, a process or a theme, to Voltility's editorial standard
  • Lead opinion on contested questions, with a clear line and the evidence behind it
  • Read public and community sentiment around projects and assess where opposition is likely to shape outcomes
  • Work with the wider team to decide which developments merit analysis and what further collection would sharpen it
  • Draw on the Generation and Load project data to quantify impact where the data allows
  • Support the commercial team with subject-matter input to demonstrations, client questions and bespoke requests
  • Contribute to the taxonomy and definitions for regulatory data

Suggested experience

  • Background in regulatory or policy analysis, consulting, law, a utility or market operator, or specialist energy journalism, with direct exposure to US power market regulation a preference
  • Deep working knowledge of how federal, state and local processes shape generation, storage and large-load economics, and of how public opinion feeds into them
  • A track record of published, longer-form written analysis and the ability to take a position and defend it
  • Comfortable working with project and market data to quantify impact; clear, plain-English writer
