Manual Machinist / Toolmaker - Taunton

This is a permanent role. The Role As a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will play a key role in the manufacture, modification and repair of precision tooling and components, working within a dedicated engineering and toolroom environment. Key responsibilities include: * Operating manual milling machines and lathes to produce precision-engineered parts and tooling. * Using XYZ ProTRAK machinery where required. * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances accurately. * Carrying out fitting, assembly, finishing and modification work on tooling and components. * Using micrometers, verniers, height gauges and other inspection equipment to maintain quality standards. * Working closely with CNC machinists and other engineering colleagues to deliver projects efficiently. This Manual Machinist / Toolmaker position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on engineering work, problem-solving and producing high-quality workmanship to close tolerances. Skills & Experience To be successful as a Manual Machinist / Toolmaker, you will ideally have: * Previous experience within manual machining, toolmaking, precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment. * Strong experience operating manual mills and lathes. * The ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings. * Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment. * Good practical problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. * Experience of fitting and assembling precision parts or tooling. * A reliable, organised and quality-focused approach to work. Experience with XYZ ProTRAK equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.
