We are seeking a hands-on and reliable School Caretaker to join a school in Maidstone, Kent. This role would suit someone with experience in caretaking, grounds maintenance, facilities support or general property repairs who enjoys keeping buildings and outdoor spaces in good condition. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining the premises, carrying out minor repairs, supporting site security and ensuring the school environment remains safe, tidy and welcoming. Role Overview The School Caretaker will help ensure the school site is maintained to an appropriate standard. Responsibilities will include completing inspections, reporting faults, carrying out general repairs and supporting the opening and closing of the premises as required. The successful candidate will work with the wider school team to maintain a secure and organised environment and ensure maintenance concerns are dealt with promptly. Key Responsibilities Opening and securing school buildings and grounds as required. Conducting routine inspections of the premises. Completing minor repairs and general maintenance. Maintaining outdoor areas, paths and playgrounds. Checking fixtures, fittings, doors and windows for visible defects. Identifying hazards and reporting maintenance concerns. Supporting health and safety inspections. Keeping entrances and communal spaces clean, tidy and accessible. Assisting with room setup and furniture movement. Supporting deliveries and safe storage of equipment. Monitoring the condition of tools and maintenance materials. Liaising with contractors and providing access where required. Reporting damage, security issues and outstanding repairs. Helping maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
