About Medinet

The Medinet Group is a leading provider of elective care solutions and clinical insourcing services across the UK. For more than 20 years, we have partnered with NHS Trusts, commissioners and healthcare organisations to improve patient access, reduce waiting lists and deliver high-quality clinical services.

Having safely treated more than 2 million patients across 28 clinical specialties, Medinet continues to expand its services and invest in technology to support its growing operations. Our clinical systems play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient and effective patient care, enabling us to mobilise new services quickly and support healthcare teams across multiple locations.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Head of Clinical Systems to lead the development, management and continuous improvement of our clinical technology platforms.

Role Summary

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Clinical Systems to take ownership of the clinical systems used across Medinet, ensuring they are reliable, secure, clinically safe and fit for purpose.

Reporting to the Director of System Development, you will lead the clinical systems roadmap, oversee system implementations and integrations, and manage relationships with external technology partners and suppliers. You will work closely with clinical, operational, transformation, data and IT teams to ensure our systems support effective patient care, operational efficiency and business growth.

This is a senior leadership role suited to someone with strong clinical systems expertise, an understanding of NHS technology and governance requirements, and the ability to translate clinical and operational needs into practical technology solutions.

Main Duties

  • Take overall ownership of Medinet's clinical systems, including EMIS Web, e-RS, OpenEyes/OpenPiMS, Monsenso, Docman Connect, Hero Health and other clinical platforms.
  • Develop and maintain the clinical systems strategy and roadmap, ensuring platforms remain aligned with business priorities, clinical requirements and future growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system functionality, automate processes, enhance integrations and standardise workflows across services and locations.
  • Lead clinical systems projects from initial requirements gathering and business case development through configuration, implementation, testing and go-live.
  • Oversee the configuration and implementation of clinical systems to support new contract mobilisations, service expansions and changing operational requirements.
  • Manage external technology delivery partners and software suppliers, setting clear expectations, monitoring performance and ensuring delivery against agreed outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clinical system vendors, overseeing contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), system performance and development roadmaps.
  • Ensure clinical systems meet relevant clinical safety standards and support the safe delivery of NHS-commissioned services.
  • Work closely with Information Governance and Clinical Governance teams to maintain compliance with UK GDPR, NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) requirements and NHS Trust data-sharing agreements.
  • Maintain clinical systems risk registers and business continuity plans, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for critical platforms.
  • Lead the response to significant clinical systems incidents, coordinating resolution, escalation and follow-up actions to minimise disruption to services and patient care.
  • Collaborat with the Transformation PMO, Data team and IT Infrastructure and Support teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.
  • Work alongside the Director of System Development to align clinical systems with the wider technology architecture, integration strategy and transformation roadmap.
  • Engage with clinicians, medical teams and operational stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into system improvements and support effective user adoption.
  • Drive improvements in clinical administration, data quality and operational efficiency through better system design, integration and automation.
  • Ensure clinical technology platforms can scale effectively as Medinet expands into new contracts, specialties and service areas.
  • Provide clear updates, recommendations and risk reporting to senior leadership, supporting informed decisions on clinical technology investment and priorities.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical systems, health informatics or digital health, with experience operating at a senior level.
  • Proven experience managing and taking end-to-end ownership of clinical systems within a healthcare environment.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more clinical systems, ideally including EMIS Web, e-RS, OpenEyes, Docman or ServiceNow.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering clinical system implementations, upgrades, migrations or integrations from initial planning through to successful implementation.
  • Experience managing external technology suppliers and delivery partners, including performance, service levels, delivery expectations and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of clinical safety standards, including DCB0129 and DCB0160, and their application within healthcare technology.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR, NHS information governance, data protection and the security requirements associated with handling patient information.
  • Experience supporting new service mobilisations, operational change or organisational growth through clinical technology solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and work effectively with clinical, operational and technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex system issues.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an independent healthcare provider, NHS Trust or organisation delivering outsourced services to the NHS.
  • Experience working within a private equity-backed or rapidly growing healthcare organisation.
  • Knowledge of NHS interoperability and integration standards, including HL7 and FHIR.
  • Experience supporting integrations between clinical systems and NHS Trust or commissioner platforms.
  • Experience developing business cases for clinical technology investment, system replacement or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of service mobilisation, clinical workflow optimisation and change management.
  • Experience supporting clinical system standardisation across multiple sites, specialties or service lines.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary reflecting the seniority and scope of the role.
  • Hybrid working across our Birmingham and London locations.
  • The opportunity to shape and lead the development of Medinet's clinical systems strategy.
  • A senior role with significant influence over technology decisions, system improvements and future business growth.
  • The opportunity to work collaboratively with clinical, operational and technology leaders across the organisation.
