Job description

Job summary
Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician with a passion for developing others and supporting high-quality patient care?

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the education, training and development of Pharmacy Technicians across Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust. You will support PTPT learners and newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians, help colleagues develop their ward-based competencies, and promote ongoing professional development across our community hospitals.

Working closely with Pharmacy Technicians and multi-disciplinary ward teams, you will provide visible leadership, supervision and line management, alongside hands-on coaching, feedback and support in practice. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the development of our pharmacy workforce, while also providing operational support when required to help maintain safe, responsive pharmacy services.

Please note that interviews will be held in person at Mount McKinley House, Shrewsbury, on the 19th of November.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and coordinate the local education and training plan for PTPTs and pharmacy technicians, ensuring learning objectives, placements, supervision and evidence requirements are clearly planned and monitored.
  • Support PTPT recruitment, induction, placement planning and progression reviews in collaboration with pharmacy leadership, education providers and placement supervisors.
  • Champion high professional standards for pharmacy technician practice, maintaining focus on patient safety, competence, professionalism and service responsiveness.
  • Work alongside Pharmacy Technicians on community hospital wards to shadow practice, provide coaching, observe competence, identify development needs and support safe, consistent ways of working.
  • Support service continuity by helping to deploy pharmacy technician capacity flexibly across community hospitals in response to workload pressures, absence or learner placement needs.
