(Senior) Underwriter - Casualty Facultative

I am currently partnered exclusively with a leading London Market Reinsurer who are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their Casualty Facultative team.

This role will be Underwriting Casualty Facultative business solely on an XOL basis for UK, International and US markets from UK&I cedants. This person will get exposure to other Casualty classes such as Motor, PI, MedMal & more.

My client is looking for an experienced Casualty Underwriter, who would be keen to move into a reinsurance focused Facultative position.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the marketing and underwriting of casualty facultative reinsurance business, identifying new business opportunities and managing renewals on a direct, non-brokered basis.
• Underwrite UK, international and US casualty reinsurance risks for UK and Irish cedents.
• Apply a strong understanding of the UK and London insurance and reinsurance markets to identify commercial opportunities and support profitable growth.
• Develop relationships with prospective and existing clients through direct market engagement, building a strong pipeline of profitable business opportunities.
• Demonstrate strong technical underwriting expertise across General Liability and related classes, with experience in UK Motor, Financial Lines and/or US Casualty considered advantageous.
• Apply casualty facultative underwriting philosophy, risk appetite and guidelines consistently across new and renewal business.
• Analyse and document risk exposures, policy coverage and terms, assessing the technical insurability and profitability of submissions.
• Underwrite, price, structure and negotiate individual facultative risks, as well as bundled reinsurance schemes, programmes and delegated authority arrangements.
• Deliver against key performance measures, including premium production, quotation volumes, pricing adequacy, client relationship management and effective teamwork.

Experience

• Previous experience underwriting UK/I Casualty, Fac experience beneficial not essential
