Maintenance Officer
Location: Canning Town, East London
£14.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)

We are recruiting for a Maintenance Officer to support the upkeep and safety of supported housing properties in Canning Town.
This is a varied role involving planned maintenance, health & safety checks, reactive repairs, cleaning, and general caretaking duties. The successful candidate will help ensure properties remain safe, compliant, and well maintained for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned maintenance and compliance checks
- Respond to maintenance issues and complete minor repairs
- Undertake basic decorating, plumbing, and building repairs
- Complete room health & safety inspections
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Monitor contractors and report hazards
- Ensure communal areas remain safe, clean, and well maintained
Requirements
- Previous experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities, or handyman work
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Confident using hand and power tools
- Good communication and IT skills
- Able to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Reliable, professional, and organised
Desirable
- Health & Safety or trade-related qualification
- Experience within social housing, supported housing, or homelessness services
- Full UK Driving Licence
