- Part-time
About the role
We’re looking for an organised, accurate and proactive Finance Administrator to join our Finance team.
This is a varied role that plays an important part in supporting the Society’s day-to-day accounting processes. You’ll be responsible for a range of financial administration including reconciliations, invoice processing, ledger maintenance and Treasury settlements, helping to make sure transactions are processed accurately and within the required timescales.
Working closely with colleagues within Finance and across the wider Society, you’ll also help to identify and resolve reconciling items, respond to queries and provide support and advice to other teams when required.
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right. Previous experience in a similar role or an accounting background would be beneficial, but equally important will be your ability to work accurately, stay organised and build positive working relationships.
What you’ll be doing
As our Finance Administrator, you’ll support a broad range of activities across the Finance function. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the Society’s General Ledger and Purchase Ledger.
- Completing daily reconciliations of the Society’s bank accounts, including cash book, cheques, debit card transactions, direct debits and EFT reconciliations.
- Reconciling suspense and control accounts, identifying issues and ensuring these are raised and resolved appropriately.
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and supporting invoice payment runs, recurring charges, petty cash and expense claims.
- Accurately processing Treasury deals through the Treasury Management system and supporting the timely settlement of Treasury activity.
- Completing fraud prevention checks relating to Treasury deals.
- Posting manual journals and supporting the administration of the Society’s cash order.
- Working with colleagues across different departments to provide support and advice, including around invoice settlement and budget allocation.
- Supporting the preparation of financial returns for the Executive and Board, as well as external regulatory authorities where required.
- Supporting the Finance team with departmental and wider Society projects.
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues and external providers
What we’re looking for
We’re particularly interested in someone who:
- Has previous experience in a similar role or an accounting background, although this is preferable rather than essential.
- Has GCSE qualifications in Maths and English.
- Is confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Can work accurately and methodically, particularly when dealing with financial information and reconciliations.
- Is organised and able to manage a varied workload and deadlines.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues across different areas of the business.
- Is comfortable investigating queries and helping to resolve issues.
- Understands the importance of accuracy, effective controls and handling financial information carefully.
Job Benefits
This is a great opportunity to develop your experience within a varied Finance role where you’ll get exposure to a number of different areas, rather than focusing on just one element of financial administration.
You’ll work closely with the wider Finance team as well as colleagues across the Society, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge of how our financial processes support the wider organisation.
The role is 30 hours per week across Monday to Friday, with an ideal working pattern of 8:00am–2:00pm each day.
If you’re organised, have a good eye for detail and are looking for a part-time Finance opportunity where you can make a positive contribution to the team, we’d love to hear from you.
