general pathologists who have areas of special interest and expertise. The successful appointee
will practice as a general cellular pathologist however they will be encouraged to develop sub-
specialist expertise in areas to be determined on discussion with colleagues. Currently the greatest
need is for Head and Neck expertise but this is to be discussed with colleagues upon appointment.

The pathologists participate in multidisciplinary team meetings for discussion of the diagnosis,
management and treatment of patients with cancer. The meetings take place in Craigavon Area

oncology colleagues in the Cancer Centre, Belfast. Attendance at and organisation of these
meetings is shared by the Consultant Pathologists with a designated lead pathologist as a core
team member for each cancer specific site, depending on whether they participate in the relevant

MDM rooms located in the main hospital building.
