Quality Inspector

About the Role

Job ID 305913 Location United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Worcestershire Worcester Company Materials Solutions Limited Organization Gas Services Business Unit Distributed Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Professional / Experienced

As a Quality Inspector, you will ensure that manufactured components meet the required drawing, customer and quality standards before they progress through production or are released to customers. You will inspect a varied range of complex machined, cast and additive manufactured parts, selecting the right measurement method for the feature, geometry and tolerance being assessed.

You will work within a growing inspection function, using advanced metrology equipment including Hexagon coordinate measuring machines running PC-DMIS, Zeiss blue-light 3D scanning equipment and conventional manual measuring tools. Your work will support Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality colleagues by providing accurate inspection data, clear reporting and practical technical advice.

This is a hands-on inspection role for someone comfortable interpreting detailed engineering drawings, investigating non-conformances and discussing complex measurement issues with colleagues across the business.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plan and complete inspection activities in line with engineering drawings, customer requirements and applicable ASME, ISO, internal and customer standards.
  • Select and use suitable inspection methods and equipment, including manual measuring equipment, Hexagon CMMs using PC-DMIS, and Zeiss blue-light 3D scanners.
  • Set up and inspect complex components using multi-part CMM programmes, universal and part-specific fixturing, and 3D scanning techniques.
  • Record and communicate inspection results through Excel and Zeiss PiWeb, producing clear measurement reports and supporting technical decision-making.
  • Identify, document and manage quality issues through the non-conformance process, including approval or rejection of components where required.
  • Support inspection-related queries from Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality, while contributing to Quality Management System development, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance and improvements to inspection methods and technology.

What You Bring

  • Broad practical inspection experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment, including manual measurement, computerised inspection, reporting and non-conformance handling.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and relevant ASME, ISO, customer and internal quality standards.
  • Experience operating CMMs, ideally Hexagon machines using PC-DMIS, including multi-part set-ups and the use of universal or dedicated fixtures.
  • Experience using Zeiss Inspect GOM or comparable blue-light 3D scanning equipment to inspect complex geometries and create inspection reports.
  • Confidence communicating inspection findings and providing advice on complex metrology or quality matters to colleagues in other functions.
  • Good IT skills, including ERP systems, Microsoft Office and basic CAD packages. Experience inspecting machined, cast or additive manufactured components would be advantageous.
