Full-time Live-in Housekeeper – Pimlico, London – c. £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience

A private client is looking for a reliable, experienced and discreet Live-in Housekeeper to run the day-to-day life of their Pimlico residence. It is a hands-on, sole-charge job looking after a single principal in a well-organised home. The principal splits their time between London and a second home in the North of England, so the workload varies: days are busier when the principal is in residence and afternoons are usually quieter. Occasional travel with the principal may be needed.

• Salary: c. £40,000 to £45,000, depending on experience
• Position: full time, live-in, sole charge
• Accommodation: a private bedroom and bathroom in the residence
• Working pattern: some weekend work when the principal is in London, with days off during the week agreed between you; flexibility around arrival times and travel is essential

Responsibilities

• Making and serving a simple breakfast every morning, plus simple, fresh lunches and dinners when the principal eats at home
• Light personal assistance during the day
• Keeping the whole house cleaned and tidied to a consistently high standard, including bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas and the kitchen
• Changing bed linen and towels regularly
• Washing, ironing and caring for clothes and household linen, including delicate garments and fabrics, and organising wardrobes
• Grocery shopping, managing household supplies and keeping the kitchen well stocked
• Getting the house ready before the principal arrives in London, and meeting them on arrival
• Now and then cooking lunch or dinner when guests are entertained at home
• General household errands

Requirements

• Proven housekeeping experience in a private household
• Good home cooking, with an interest in fresh, healthy meals
• Excellent cleaning, laundry and ironing skills
• A full, valid UK driving licence and confidence driving in London (highly desirable)
• Previous care experience is an advantage but not essential
• Willing to work some weekends when the principal is in residence, with flexible hours
• Able to work on your own, use your initiative and anticipate the household's needs without supervision
• Calm, patient, kind and attentive, with a friendly, respectful and professional manner
• Reliable, honest, discreet and well organised
• Excellent references from previous private employers
• The right to work in the United Kingdom
