Lockerbie Medical Practice and Canonbie Surgery are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Locum General Practitioner to provide cover during a period of sabbatical leave.

We are looking for a GP to undertake up to 8 sessions per week over an approximately three month period from April to June 2027. While these are our preferred dates, there is some flexibility around both the start and the end dates, and we would be pleased to discuss alternative arrangements for suitable applicants.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and supportive rural practice serving the communities of Lockerbie and Canonbie. The successful candidate will work across both practice sites, delivering high quality, patient centrered general medical services.

We are keen to appoint a GP who can provide continuity and support to our clinical team during the sabbatical period while maintaining the high standards of care our patients have come to expect.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

Be fully qualified and registered General Practitioners

Hold a license to practice and meet all relevant NHS requirements

Have previous experience working in UK General Practice

Be proficient in the Vision 3 Clinical System

Demonstrate excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills

Working Arrangements

Up to 8 sessions per week

Fixed-term locum engagement for approximately 3 months

Preferred period: April to June 2027

Some flexibility regarding dates and sessional commitments for the right candidate

Up to one weeks leave may be taken during the cover period, subject to prior agreement
