Summary:

The main function of the Data Scientist is to produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.

8-10 years Exp

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.
  • Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.
  • Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.
  • Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.
  • Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.

Skills:

  • Experienced in either programming languages such as Python/SQL and/or R, big data tools, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics.
  • Experience working with large datasets.

Day to day roles:

  • The position is situated in the Conversion Experiences group, operating much like an e-commerce unit centered on product data science to optimize user interactions and offerings across Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, instead of routing traffic off-site. The candidate will focus on product analytics to assess total addressable markets, execute feature experiments involving parameters like free shipping or organic materials, and evaluate buyer interactions alongside purchasing trends.
  • The workflow cycles across initial setup and test preparation, a hands-off two-week execution window, a single week dedicated to evaluation, and resolving key analytical inquiries between testing cycles.
  • Leverages internal proprietary tools, with scripting performed mainly in Python. Note that backend software engineering and production model deployment fall outside the scope of this role. Team members rely extensively on automated multi-agent frameworks and AI tooling to execute analytical tasks instead of hand-coding solutions.
  • Previous experience in the e-commerce sector, specifically within advertising platforms or alongside major retail enterprises
  • Domain expertise in advertising along with practical knowledge of experimentation methodology
  • Strong individual contributor (hands on) capability to drive work independently, as opposed to a people manager supervising team members

Good to have skills:

  • Ex Meta
  • Integrating analytics with machine learning infrastructure to autonomously construct and validate feature recommendations for products
  • AI tooling experience

Education/Experience:

  • Master of Science degree in computer science or in a relevant field.
