This is an excellent opportunity for a capable administrator, customer service professional, or front-of-house coordinator seeking a rewarding, fast-paced role at the administrative heart of a supportive educational environment.

About the Role

As a School Administrator, you will keep the daily operations of the school running smoothly and efficiently. Acting as a welcoming ambassador for visitors and a reliable point of support for teachers, parents, and students, you will manage front-desk reception, process student data, coordinate incoming communications, and deliver general administrative support across multiple school departments.

  • Start Date: Immediate or upcoming term

  • Environment: A supportive co-educational secondary school committed to high operational standards, warm hospitality, and student success

  • Culture: A friendly, collaborative team environment supported by approachable senior staff and an energetic administrative group

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a polite, professional, and welcoming front-of-house service for parents, guests, contractors, and visiting professionals, ensuring visitor safeguarding sign-in protocols are strictly followed.

  • Manage central communications, including answering main telephone lines, responding to general email inquiries, and distributing incoming correspondence.

  • Input, update, and maintain accurate student and staff records using the school’s Management Information System (MIS) (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom).

  • Support attendance and admissions routines, issuing pupil absence follow-ups, logging late arrivals, and assisting with parent correspondence.

  • Assist teaching faculties and leadership with administrative tasks, reprographics, event coordination (e.g., open days, parents' evenings), and general office filing.

Requirements

  • Proven administrative, customer service, or front-desk receptionist experience, ideally within a school, college, or busy public sector organization.

  • High digital literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace and familiarity with school MIS platforms (e.g., SIMS, Arbor) being advantageous.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a warm, confident telephone manner and articulate interpersonal approach.

  • Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.

  • Full awareness of child safeguarding procedures, data privacy (GDPR), and confidentiality standards in a school context.

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Outer London support staff pay scale (commensurate with experience).

  • Access to local government pension schemes, comprehensive school-based training, and a generous term-time-only or term-time-plus schedule.
