Practice Manager

STA Legal is a growing Alternative Business Structure within the STA Group, specialising in debt recovery and commercial litigation for STA International clients and a widening range of outside businesses. We're a close-knit team across Manchester and Maidstone, and we're at an exciting stage: establishing ourselves, raising our standards, and planning for future growth and diversification.

That's where you come in. This is a brand-new senior leadership role, reporting to our Operations Director, with real scope to shape how the firm works from the ground up.

The role

No two days will be the same. You'll be the operational engine of the practice, keeping it efficient, profitable and compliant so our lawyers can focus on delivering outstanding client service. You'll:

• Lead day-to-day operations, refining workflows, policies and resource allocation across the firm
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, spotting opportunities to control costs and grow revenue
• Embed compliance into everything we do through our "Compliance by Design" framework, supporting the COLP, audits and regulatory inspections
• Lead and develop our support team, from recruitment and onboarding to training and performance
• Drive digital transformation, process automation and change initiatives that move the firm forward
• Track KPIs and give commercial, data-led advice to the senior leadership team

What you'll bring

You'll have significant experience in law firm operations, practice management or professional services management, with strong knowledge of legal sector compliance and regulation. You're confident with financial reporting and performance data, a natural leader who builds great relationships, and someone who thrives on organising, improving and delivering projects. A degree, a management qualification (ILM, CMI, MBA or equivalent), or experience with case and practice management systems would be a bonus.
