Job description

Location: FY6, Lancashire

Start Date: January 2027
Hours: Full-Time
Pay: £14.25 - £15.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual looking to make a positive impact on a child's educational journey?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in the FY6 area who are seeking to appoint a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them thrive both academically and socially within a supportive school environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with a child on a 1:1 basis, providing personalised support throughout the school day. While the role will predominantly be classroom-based, there may also be opportunities to deliver targeted interventions in a quieter setting when required. Ongoing support will be provided by the class teacher, SENCO, and wider leadership team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEMH and/or SEN needs.
  • Be patient, nurturing, and understanding of individual learning requirements.
  • Be confident building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Be able to provide both academic and emotional support.
  • Have a proactive, flexible, and positive approach to learning and behaviour support.

In return, the school offers:

  • A supportive and inclusive working environment.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities.
  • Competitive rates of pay (£14.25 - £15.00 per hour).
  • Strong support from senior leadership and the wider school team.
  • The opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve success within a mainstream primary school setting.

If you feel this role is for you, please apply with your up-to-date CV for consideration. Applications are being considered now ahead of a January 2027 start.
