- Full-time
The Opportunity
Do you have experience as a gardener, horticulturist, nursery worker or garden centre plant specialist? If you have good practical plant knowledge and an understanding of common plant pests and diseases, our client can provide training to help you move into indoor plant maintenance.
We are recruiting for a Horticulturist to join an established family business, caring for indoor plants and planting displays in offices and commercial premises across the Midlands and M1 corridor.
Previous indoor plant maintenance or interior landscaping experience is not essential. You will, however, need sound practical plant knowledge and the ability to recognise common pests, diseases and signs of poor plant health. Training will be provided in indoor plant care and company maintenance procedures.
Working to a planned three-week maintenance rota, you will visit commercial client sites to water, feed, clean, prune and maintain indoor plants, ensuring they remain healthy, attractive and well presented.
This is also a client-facing position. Many clients operate within professional corporate environments, including the finance and legal sectors, so you will need to be friendly, presentable and confident communicating with people at all levels.
You will largely manage your own working day and client visits, making reliability, organisation and the ability to work independently essential.
A company van is provided.
Key Responsibilities
Visit commercial client sites across the Midlands and M1 corridor, following a planned three-week maintenance rota
Water, feed, clean and prune indoor plants according to their individual care requirements

Replace plants that are failing or no longer meet presentation standards, following company guidelines
Build positive, professional relationships with clients and respond to their queries
Represent the business professionally while working on client premises
Work independently and manage your daily schedule effectively
Use a tablet to follow schedules, record completed work and report plant or site issues

Follow health and safety procedures while working in commercial environments
Work to company maintenance standards and agreed performance targets
Requirements
Good practical plant knowledge and an understanding of how to maintain healthy plants
Knowledge of common plant pests and diseases, with the ability to recognise symptoms and understand when action is needed

A genuine interest in working with indoor plants and developing your knowledge of their care
Willingness to learn indoor plant species, their individual requirements and company maintenance procedures

Previous experience in indoor plant maintenance, interior landscaping or commercial plant care would be advantageous, but is not essential. A horticultural qualification, such as RHS Level 2 or equivalent, would also be beneficial.
Working Hours
The usual working hours are 7.00am to 4.00pm, with a 30-minute break. Some client sites require a 6.00am start, and finish times may vary depending on the work scheduled for that day, so flexibility is required.
Location & Travel
This is a mobile role covering the Midlands and M1 corridor, ideally suited to someone based around Nottingham, Leicester or another location with good access to the M1.
Travel between commercial client sites forms a significant part of the position, with a company van provided.
The successful candidate must also be able to attend a Monday morning meeting in Leeds each week, where stock for the van will be replenished.
