About the School
A friendly and well-established primary school in Exeter is seeking an organised Kitchen Manager to oversee its school meal service. The school is looking for someone who can lead a busy kitchen, maintain high food safety standards and ensure pupils receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
About the Role
You will manage the day-to-day running of the school kitchen, coordinating food preparation, stock and staff to ensure an efficient service.
Key responsibilities include:
Organising daily meal preparation and service in line with agreed menus.
Supervising kitchen assistants and allocating duties.
Monitoring food stock, placing orders and managing supplies.
Maintaining food hygiene, allergen controls and health and safety standards.
Keeping accurate records of temperatures, cleaning schedules and food safety checks.
Supporting the preparation of meals for pupils with dietary requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a catering or kitchen supervisory role.
Knowledge of food hygiene, allergen management and safe food preparation.
Experience in a school or other high-volume catering environment is desirable.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead a team.
A practical, reliable approach and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
