Desk Based Account Handler
- Full-time
Handle Professional Indemnity insurance for solicitors and law firms, working across both an in-house insurance facility and the open market to arrange appropriate cover for clients. You'll be involved in the broking process, dealing with renewals, negotiating terms and helping clients navigate the particular insurance requirements of the legal profession.
This is a desk-based Account Handler opportunity with an established insurance broker specialising in Professional Indemnity. The role offers flexible hybrid working, typically with two or three days per week in the office. There is also the opportunity to visit clients, with time spent at client meetings counting towards your office attendance.
The opportunity
- Handle Professional Indemnity insurance for solicitors and law firms, working with accounts involving premiums of up to £250,000.
- Work across both an established in-house insurance facility and the wider open market, giving you exposure to different placement options and insurer requirements.
- Manage renewals, obtain quotations, review policy terms and negotiate with insurers to secure appropriate cover for clients.
- Support clients with their Professional Indemnity requirements, dealing with enquiries, changes to cover and the technical detail involved in placing and maintaining policies.
- Work with insurers and underwriting contacts to discuss risks, resolve queries and progress placements through to completion.
- Develop relationships with clients, including opportunities to attend meetings and discuss their insurance requirements directly.
- Build your technical understanding of solicitors' Professional Indemnity insurance, including the coverage considerations and underwriting information involved in more substantial cases.
Who would suit it?
- You'll have experience in Professional Indemnity insurance within the broking market, ideally involving solicitors or other professional services clients.
- You'll understand the renewal and placement process and be comfortable dealing directly with insurers on quotations, terms and coverage.
- Experience working with solicitors' PI would be particularly useful, especially where you've handled more substantial premiums or technically involved risks.
- You'll be organised and comfortable managing multiple renewals, insurer enquiries and client requirements.
- You'll enjoy the technical side of insurance broking while also being confident communicating with clients and building professional relationships.
- You'll appreciate the opportunity to work across both an in-house facility and open-market placements rather than being limited to a single broking route.
The package
- Basic salary of £35,000 to £40,000, depending on experience.
- Flexible hybrid working, typically two or three days per week in the office, with client visits counting towards office attendance.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
