Are you a caring, resilient, and dedicated individual looking to make a lasting difference in a child's school experience?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in the PR4 area who are seeking to appoint a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to support a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them develop both academically and emotionally in a nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with a child on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support throughout the school day. The role will primarily be classroom-based, with opportunities to deliver focused interventions and emotional regulation support when required. You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to ensure the pupil receives the best possible support.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEMH and/or SEN needs.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
  • Be confident providing both academic and emotional support.
  • Have a proactive, flexible, and positive approach to behaviour management and learning support.

In return, the school offers:

  • A welcoming and supportive school environment.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities.
  • Competitive rates of pay (£14.25 - £15.00 per hour).
  • Strong support from senior leadership and the wider staff team.
  • Potential opportunities for a permanent contract for the right candidate.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve success within a mainstream primary school setting.
