The posts are primarily service-based and ward-facing, while also offering development opportunities in outpatient clinics, audit, teaching, governance and portfolio progression. It would suit a doctor with foundation competencies, or equivalent experience, who wishes to develop further clinical experience in haematology.

·Clerk, assess and review patients admitted under haematology, including completion of timely clinical documentation, investigation requests and discharge summaries.

·Participate in consultant-led and senior-led ward rounds, ensuring clear plans are documented and communicated to nursing, administrative and multidisciplinary colleagues.

·Assess and manage ward referrals and emergency haematology presentations within the limits of competence, seeking senior advice where required.

· Attend haematology outpatient clinics and support patient assessment, follow-up, documentation and onward management plans where appropriate.

· Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centred care in line with Trust policies, clinical governance requirements and GMC professional standards.

Working for our organisation

The Trust has well-established links with the Universities of Manchester and Central Lancashire and offers a supportive environment for Doctors wishing to develop their clinical, surgical and professional skills.

These posts offer excellent training opportunities across benign and malignant haematology, laboratory haematology, thrombosis, and haemostasis. The successful candidate will gain experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of haematological disorders, including anaemias, thrombocytopenia, haemoglobinopathies, bleeding and thrombotic disorders, leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma, and myeloproliferative neoplasms. There will be opportunities to participate in inpatient and outpatient care, multidisciplinary team meetings, and specialist clinics. The post holder will also gain experience in the interpretation of blood films, bone marrow aspirates and trephine biopsies, flow cytometry, coagulation testing, and specialised laboratory investigations. Working closely with consultant haematologists, clinical scientists, specialist nurses, and laboratory teams, the successful candidate will develop a comprehensive understanding of both the clinical and laboratory aspects of modern haematology practice.
