Ysgol Treffynnon is situated on a modern learning campus, which it shares with the primary school, Ysgol Maes Y Felin. The campus is beautiful, unique and innovative, with state-of-the-art, multifunctional classrooms throughout.
We are seeking to appoint three Pastoral Support 4 practitioners to provide high-quality pastoral support and targeted intervention for students whose behaviour, attendance, wellbeing or personal circumstances present barriers to learning.
These are key roles promoting positive behaviour and helping students improve their engagement, wellbeing and readiness to learn. The postholders will work as part of the pastoral team, under the direction of the Director of Learning for Pastoral.
Successful candidates will have experience of working directly with young people aged 11–16 and demonstrate the communication skills, sound judgement and willingness to learn needed to become effective pastoral practitioners. Previous experience of behaviour support or pastoral intervention would be an advantage, but candidates do not need experience of every duty in the profile. Induction, training and support will be provided.
We are looking for calm, resilient and organised individuals who can build positive professional relationships, balance support with challenge and maintain clear expectations. They will work collaboratively with students, families and colleagues to identify barriers and help students make positive choices.
Experience of analysing data would be an advantage, particularly in identifying patterns in behaviour, attendance and engagement and evaluating the impact of support.
Suitability to work with children is an essential requirement of appointment. Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate professional conduct, sound judgement and clear boundaries in their relationships with students.
Ysgol Treffynnon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We undertake safeguarding and safer recruitment checks to establish the suitability of candidates to work with children. These include references, verification of identity, qualifications, employment history and right to work, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with a children’s barred list check, and digital footprint searches of publicly available online information. Any relevant concerns will be explored with the candidate during the recruitment process. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of all required checks.
Candidates must complete the school’s application form to be considered. We regret that we are unable to respond individually to all applicants. If you have not received a reply within three weeks of the closing date, you should assume that you have not been shortlisted for interview.
Closing date for applications: Friday 30th October 2026 at 12:00pm
