- Full-time
Engineering ambition. Practical delivery. Lasting opportunity.
WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Projects team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week. This role will be based in Glasgow with hybrid working with travel to project sites as required. We will be relocating to Stepps by March 2027.
You’ll take ownership of the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of multiple water and MEICA projects, covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation works.
You’ll lead projects from design and pre-construction through installation, commissioning and handover, bringing together engineering, commercial, procurement and site teams. With responsibility for project budgets, programmes and team performance, you’ll ensure delivery meets our commitments to clients.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Project Manager, or an established Project Manager with strong technical, commercial and people leadership experience who is ready for greater responsibility.
WGM Engineering is experiencing significant growth across the UK, with secured long-term frameworks extending beyond 2035. This provides a strong foundation for sustained delivery, investment in our people and long-term career development. As part of RSK Group, we combine the scale and support of a wider group with the practical, hands-on approach of a specialist engineering delivery business.
Why join WGM?
You’ll have ownership of your projects throughout the delivery lifecycle, with the opportunity to influence technical solutions, coordinate resources and build lasting client relationships.
Our in-house capabilities span Technical & Design, off-site engineering and project delivery, giving you access to specialists who can help resolve challenges and improve how projects are delivered.
As our Projects business grows, you’ll build your leadership experience across varied water and industrial infrastructure projects, develop others and contribute ideas that strengthen delivery across the team.
What you’ll do:
- Own project delivery: Lead allocated projects from design and pre-construction through construction, commissioning and handover, meeting agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Lead safety and wellbeing: Set clear expectations for health, safety, wellbeing and environmental performance, working with construction and site teams to maintain effective controls and address concerns.
- Manage commercial performance: Take responsibility for project budgets, cost control and forecasting. Work with commercial colleagues to manage contractual requirements, capture changes and ensure timely notices and accurate records.
- Plan and coordinate resources: Develop realistic programmes with planning and construction colleagues, aligning people, materials, equipment and subcontractors with project milestones.
- Bring teams together: Coordinate design, procurement, commercial, construction and commissioning activities, resolving interfaces and ensuring teams have the information needed to deliver.
- Build client confidence: Lead project meetings, maintain effective relationships with clients and delivery partners, and resolve issues through clear communication and timely decisions.
- Control risk and performance: Manage project risks, implement mitigation and recovery plans, and provide clear progress reports and monthly project reviews.
- Develop people and improve delivery: Lead and support your team, review performance, identify development needs and share lessons that improve future projects.
- Plan for completion: Establish commissioning, testing, handover and acceptance requirements early, ensuring documentation and outstanding actions are managed through to close-out.
- Coordinate temporary works: Undertake Temporary Works Coordinator responsibilities where formally appointed, following appropriate training and confirmation of competence, in line with WGM procedures.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience delivering engineering or construction projects, with responsibility for budgets, programmes, safety and quality.
- A mechanical and/or electrical engineering background, with an understanding of multidisciplinary construction and MEICA delivery.
- A relevant HND, degree or equivalent construction or engineering qualification.
- Previous line management experience, with the ability to lead, support and develop others.
- Strong commercial awareness, including project forecasting, cost control and managing changes to scope.
- Practical knowledge of construction methods, resource planning, risk management and project controls.
- Strong client-facing communication skills and the confidence to challenge constructively, resolve problems and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and reporting skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Experience in water or wastewater delivery, knowledge of NEC contracts, a relevant CSCS card, and Temporary Works Coordinator training or experience would be advantageous.
